my son is 5 years old and is a green card holder. he is in india since may 2009. i didn't get a reentry permit for my son. if i could not bring him back in one year, which is the best way to keep green card status? is it possible to return to U.S. after staying more than one year abroad?|||If a Permanent Resident is outside of the US for more then 1 year they are deemed to have abandoned their status. If your son was here in the US you could have applied for a re-entry permit.
It hasn't been a year yet, so why not just bring him home? Let me guess he really live in India.|||He must come back before 1 year unless you get a permission from US immigration.|||You are abusing the system ... he either lives in India or the USA
