If someone has aslylum status and has not applied for green card after one year?

Hello , i just want to ask if someone has asylum status and has not applied for a green card after the one year waitng period, and his EAD expired a couple months ago, does he neeeds to apllied for a new EAD when he sent the paper for a green card I-485? or just file the I 485?|||Your asylum or refugee status is indefinite. But after one year with either status, you should apply for perm status. Technically, by law you have to apply at one year refugee status. But they won't deport you if you don't.

But if you don't, you stand the chance of losing your AS/RE status. Because after one year, DHS can re-evaluate the conditions that led to your status and potentially find that they no longer exist.

Which means, your status could be revoked.

And while that almost never happens, why take that chance? As either an asylee or a refugee, USCIS more often than not waives the application fees when you timely apply. Which means in about year. The longer you're in the States, the more time you have to accumulate wealth, so the less likely they'll waive the fees.

Just do it.|||As a refugee, you are required by law to apply for permanent resident status 1 year after being admitted to the United States. As an asylee, you are not required to apply for permanent resident status after being granted asylum for 1 year, although it may be in your best interest to do so.

perhaps you prefer to go home|||You can apply for green card
