When you scan an oyster card at a tube station and the gates don't open, it displays an error code which indicates the reason.
(e.g. no credit, the card thinks you haven't touched out, etc)
The ones I know are
00 - No error (i.e. success)
94 - This happens when you're in the way of the sensor in front of the gates
