Can an F1 visa marry a person who had just got his green card? where can we file a change of status?

im an international student and im about to marry my boyfriend who had just got his green card. we were just wondering where can we find an application form for that change of status? or can i really change my status as his dependent?|||Even if you marry your boyfriend who has a green card, your status will not change right away. If he sponsors you, it could take years before you are approved because he is not an American Citizen.|||Sure you can get married but the F1 can't have a change of status.

The F1 student visa is not an immigration visa so that is why it can't have a status change. The marriage will not change that.

The person signed an agreement to leave the country once the F1 is expired.

If they stay they are subject to deportation and a 10 year ban.

So here is what you do. The person goes home before you get married. Then you apply for a K1 fiance visa and then get married in the US.

You can then apply for the green card.

As I stated if you marry first, or overstay the F1 visa all bets are off.|||You can get married and he can file for you, however since he is a green card holder you will be waiting 2-3 years before you are able to become a green card holder also.

The sooner you file, the sooner you will get it.
