Do native american with indian status card pay taxes in stores?

In the US ALL people pay taxes in stores, even American Indians. The only exception is on reservations where there are no taxes and then nobody pays taxes. The exception to this would be cigarettes and gas. Sometimes states make tribes collect taxes equal to state tax so that the tribes do not undercut the state competition. This tax is usually only applied to non-AI people.

Canada may be different and exempt First Nations people with status cards from paying taxes in stores.|||I have used my indian status card in New York, Florida, Utah and Nebraska and was exempt from hotel and retail sales taxes where applicable. No issue to date and have used if for the past 15 years.....

|||Yes, they pay standard sales taxes, unless the store is located directly on the reservation on which the Native American resides. They may also avoid sales taxes on products purchased off reservation and delivered to them on the reservation proper, since the point of sale is considered to be the end delivery location.|||No doubt all people have to pay it if they charge it. In the same sense, I live in a state with no sales tax, but my drivers license as an ID doesn't exclude me from the sales tax of other states.|||Some states maybe not , but Texas still charges the tax|||Well it depends, in Canada, we are exempt from Provincial sales tax. So I don't have to pay that when I present my card. and on the US side, some stores used to take the status card but not really anymore.

Hope that helps.
