I work with H1B status. My boyfriend is a green card holder. My work position seems to be in danger now. If I get laid off, I will lose my H1B status immediately. Can I keep legal status and stay in US by marrying my boyfriend?|||If you marry your boyfriend, technically you can apply for the partner to the green card. However it is a grey area whereby you are marrying after they have been given a green card.
You should be fine if you can prove the relationship. Hopefully you wont have to make this choice.
